About Taz Starling
Extended biography (250 words)
Taz Starling writes fantasy adventures for readers who enjoy hidden places, mysterious artifacts and questions worth following. He is the author of The Templar Guardian Academy, whose Junior Guardians, Leo and Maya, learn to protect people and knowledge while exploring a world of mechanisms and routes.
At the heart of these stories are choices children can recognize. What happens after a mistake? When should an answer become a question? How do partners work together when each sees something the other has missed? Starling builds adventures around curiosity, courage, responsibility and friendship, allowing these ideas to emerge through the characters’ actions.
Leo and Maya bring different strengths to their missions. Their progress depends on noticing details, comparing evidence, listening and adjusting when a plan no longer fits. Adult Guardian guidance is part of their learning, and asking for help belongs alongside bravery. Extraordinary settings create the space for wonder, while the people affected by each problem give the adventure its purpose.
The series uses real places as settings for fictional sites and events. Its artifacts and mechanisms belong to an invented fantasy world. Readers can enjoy the mystery while discussing how characters make decisions, respond to uncertainty and take responsibility for their part in a shared task.
